Green finance is transforming the global financial landscape by channeling investments into projects that generate positive environmental outcomes. It encompasses a broad range of activities, from funding renewable energy and sustainable agriculture to restoring ecosystems such as peatlands. But what exactly is green finance, and why is it so crucial in today’s world?

In November, PFI co-hosted a three-day Peatland Finance learning event in Dublin that explored policy alignment to facilitate investment in restoration.

On Thursday 30th June, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Darragh O’Brien TD, and EIB Vice-President Christian Kettel-Thomsen formally agreed to strengthen cooperation for peatland restoration in Ireland with the European Investment Bank supporting NPWS efforts to accelerate the restoration of peatlands across the country.
