Update (Revised Dates): Peatland Finance Ireland to Launch Public Consultation on the Peatland Standard for Ireland

Peatland Finance Ireland (PFI) is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of a public consultation on the Peatland Standard for Ireland V1.0. The Peatland Standard for Ireland aims to establish a comprehensive framework for the protection, restoration, and sustainable management of Ireland's peatland ecosystems.

The Peatland Standard provides a process to quantify ecosystem improvements (such as carbon sequestration, biodiversity support, and water regulation) from peatland restoration projects in Ireland. This process follows voluntary market principles and is designed to provide robust, high-quality certificates to provide finance for a project’s capital and management requirements and objectively quantified return of ecosystem services.

We invite all stakeholders to participate and provide input on the draft standard once the consultation opens on November 6th. The public consultation will be open for four weeks, closing on December 5th.

Further details, including how to participate, will be shared shortly. Your feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the future of peatland conservation in Ireland.
